In this impassioned and carefully researched account, former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Abrams examines the methods and consequences of voter suppression in America . Ms. Abrams sketches the history of minority disenfranchisement from the 1857 Supreme Court decision barring African-Americans from citizenship to the 2013 voiding of federal preclearance requirements for electoral changes in districts covered under the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Ms. Abrams' parents served at St Mark UMC and Ms. Abrams was one of the St. Mark youth who held signs letting Pride parade marchers know they were welcome in our church!
